How to Change a Computer’s Name (Windows 7 - Windows 10)

Changing a Computer's Name

Having multiple computers with the same name on a network can be very problematic.

NOTE: If the main computer's/server's name is changed, it will be necessary to remap all the shares for every year on all of the workstations; rather, try changing a workstation's name before changing the server's name.

  2. Right click "This PC or Computer," then select Properties.
