How to Correctly File Deceased Taxpayer or Spouse

Filing when TP or Spouse is deceased



File accordingly as done in years past. In addition, provide the Date of Death in the appropriate location. In the Address section you will need to add the c/o (care of) living spouse name.


Point of Reminder:  Pertaining to the year of the death of a spouse, use the Married Filing Joint filing status.  Two years hence, you may use the Qualifying Widow(er) filing status.
