How to Enter a Dependent Who Resides in Mexico or Canada

Dependents who live in Mexico or Canada have special IRS treatment.
  In order for the program to correctly calculate the tax return, they must be entered with a special code.

 Entering a child as a dependent who lives in Mexico or Canada

1. Click Client Data on the "Forms Attached" navigation pane.
2. In the Dependents section, enter the child’s First Name, Last Name, Birth Date, SSN/ITIN and relationship.
3. In the Number of Months Dependent Lived With Taxpayer box, enter MX for Mexico or CN for Canada.
