Error Message: W-2 Required Field Missing While Verifying a Return TY 2015 and prior

Symptoms

In 2015 tax year and prior, adding a W-2 with Code J "Non-taxable sick pay" selected on Employer Use line 12 causes a verify error.

Cause

This behavior can occur when adding a W-2 with a Code J.

 

Resolution

Non-taxable third party sick pay is not reported on the tax return. The W-2 can be deleted.
