Error Message: Unable to download XXXXXX.pdf from localhost. Appears Once a PDF Document is Opened

Symptoms

In attempting to view a PDF document in the program, the following error message appears: 

’Unable to download XXXXXX.pdf from localhost.’

  

Cause

This error message can occur if the Display PDF in browser option is not selected in the version of Adobe Reader installed on the machine.

 

Resolution

1. Open Adobe Reader.
2. From the top menu, select Edit > Preferences.
3. Under Categories, select Internet.
4. Click the How to set up your browser to use Adobe product to view PDF documents link and follow the instructions provided.
   

   
   
   

5. Click OK.
