Error message: Software Error/Interrupt!! DbChain () While Opening a Tax Return

Symptoms

In attempting to open a tax return, an error message appears: 

’Software Error/Interrupt!! DbChain ()’

   

 

Cause

This issue occurs when return data for a specific return becomes corrupted or otherwise unreadable by the program.

 

Resolution

To correct this error, the tax return must be deleted using Tax Return Audit and recreated.

1. Click Utility, then click System Utilities
2. Click Tax Return Audit, then click Run Utility
   

   
   
   
   

3. Highlight the tax return, then click the Delete Button
