Install Error: Windows Protected Your PC

Symptoms

A pop-up displaying "Windows protected your PC" appears with a "Don't Run" option.

Cause

Windows could not recognize the file as one that is commonly downloaded and treats the software as potentially malicious.

Resolution

1. When the error occurs, you may need to check a box in order to fully view the error. 
   
2. Click "Run anyway" to proceed with error-free installation.
