Error message: dirXXXX Accessing: dirXXXX C:0000000. crc error on page header

Symptoms

While opening a tax return, an error message similar to the following appears: 

’dir20xx Accessing: dir20xx – C:0000000. crc error on page header’

Cause

This issue can occur if the program database index file is damage or missing.

Resolution

NOTE: Before proceeding, back up the tax return data following the steps outlined in this KB 333 How to Backup Returns in The Program

1. Log into the program as a user with Administrator privileges.
2. From the top menu, select Utility > System Utilities. The System Utilities window will open.

   

3. Click Rebuild Returns.

   

4. Click Run Utility. 

   

5. If backups are enabled, another popup will appear. Click Yes.

   

6. The program will repair the database index file.
7. Click OK.
