Error Message: "Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) in the Return Header..."

Symptoms

Efiling a return with an EFIN that isn't approved by the IRS 

’Error: Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) in the Return Header must be listed in the e-File database and in accepted status’

Cause

The EFIN is no longer IRS approved to submit/e-file returns.

Resolution

Contact IRS to get correction using either of the below options. 

• Contact e-Services Helpdesk 866-255-0654
• Have ERO navigate to IRS.gov and login to their e-Services account.
