How to Efile 1040x (Amendments) in Hosted and Desktop

• In Tax Year 2019 the IRS announced the E-file function of amendments.
• Where's my Amended Return?
• Maximum of 3 amendments are allowable for E-File

E-File 1040-X 

1. Follow KB 367 How to prepare an Amended Tax return (form 1040-X)
2. Complete Form 1040-X
3. Check the E-File 1040-X box
4. Check the Validation Check - 1040 Return has been electronically filed and any additional validations that apply
5. Queue return as normal and validate that the transmission window displays "Queue Federal Amendment"

 

Information & Status page

Once the return has been e-filed, the Information & Status page will show accepted/ACK data in the Amended/Extension Electronic Filing section. Note: In Tax Year 2019 the software displays this information in the state section with the e-file type as Amendment.
