Online Program > Capturing the Preparer Signature

In order for the preparer to electronically store their signature in 1040 Online, the user will need to capture their preparer signature for each designated preparer.

Follow the instructions below to successfully capture the preparer signature:

Method 1: Capturing the preparer signature from the Profile Menu

The preparer signature can be captured from the Profile Menu ONLY if the login used is linked to a preparer account.

1. Login to 1040 Online with a preparer login.
2. Click on the Profile Menu dropdown.
3. Click on Capture Preparer Signature.
4. Capture the preparer's signature.
   

 Method 2: Capturing the Preparer Signature from the Setup Menu

1. Login to 1040 Online at the office level.
2. Click on the Office Settings from the Left Navigation Panel.
3. Click Preparer from the Required for Filing section.
4. Locate the desired preparer and click Capture Signature.
5. Capture the preparer's signature.
