Online Program > Document size must be 5MB or less

Symptoms:

When importing a file to the Document Archived in 1040Online, the following error message appears: 

’Document size must be 5MB or less’

Cause:

The file being imported is too large to store in the Document Archive. If the file being imported exceeds 5MB, there may be ways to reduce the size of the file.
Important Note: 1040 Online is not working as designed and we will need to reduce the size of the document being imported to about 4.75MB.

Resolution:

1. 1040 Online is currently looking at bytes. Reduce the size of the document being imported to 4.75MB or less.
2. If the document to be uploaded is an image, you may attempt to retake the image using reduced resolution settings on the device capturing the image.
3. Additionally, it may be possible to reduce the file size by opening the image in image editing software and saving the file type as a different file type, such as JPG.
