Online Program > Understanding the Login Type

1040 Online requires Login Types to each login created in the software.Â Currently, the two types of login types are either Manager or Preparer.

Â Below is a comparison of the differences between the two login types:

Manager	Preparer
Linking a preparer to the login is required.	Linking a preparer to the login is required.
Can view all returns created by all preparers in the office.	Can only view returns created by the preparer linked to the login.
Has access to the Preparer tab.	Does not have access to the Preparer tab.
Can capture the ERO Signature from the Profile menu (requires EFIN/Office access level)	Can capture the Preparer and ERO Signature from the Profile menu (requires EFIN/Office access level for ERO Signature)
Can send/receive messages to/from preparers in the office and to the parent account.	Can send/receive message to/from the office Manager(s) only.
Can view payments entered by everyone from the Payments section.	Can only view payments entered by them from the Payments section.
Can access the Capture Payment and Payment History buttons from the Tax Returns screen.	Cannot access the Capture Payment and Payment History buttons from the Tax Returns screen.
