EIN is a Required Field in Paid Preparers, Yet Not All Paid Preparers Have an EIN

In early versions of the program, EIN is marked with an asterisk implying that is a required field, yet single preparers will not always have an EIN.

The EIN is a “soft requirement”, which is to say it is not actually required, but recommended.

Workaround

Put a checkmark in the "Self Employed" box, thus no longer requiring the EIN to be present.

1. Select Database > Paid Preparer -or- EF Originators
