How to Install the Motorola Symbol Scanner For Use With The Program

Ensure the scanner is a supported scanner. KB 284 Approved Compatible Bar Code Scanner
The Most common used scanner is the DS6707-DC. There will be some additional numbers and letters after the DC. 
The model number is found on a sticker next to the trigger as shown.

To install the document scanner, follow these steps:

1. Download and install the appropriate driver for your operating system.

2. Run the downloaded file and complete the Motorola Installation Wizard.
3. Plug the scanner into a USB port on your computer.
4. Scan the Set Defaults bar code. Wait for two separate sequences of beeps from the scanner. The second set of beeps should be low/medium/high beeps. Four long low beeps indicate an error.

To verify the document scanner is working properly, follow these steps to scan a document:

1. Open the program. The document scanner is only compatible with the program 2012.31 or the program 2013.10 and above.
2. Start a new tax return, or open a test return. Do not use a real return, as the scanned document cannot easily be deleted!
3. On the Attached Forms pane, click Document Archive.
4. In the Archived Documents listing, click Scan Document.
5. Click Snap.
6. To save the file, click Save.
