Error Message: Tax return already open override lock out While Opening a Return

Symptoms

When opening a tax return, an error message similar to the following appears: 

'Tax Return Already Open. Override Lock Out?'

 

  

Cause

This issue can occur if the tax return is open on another copy of the program on the network, or if the program was not closed properly (for example, a power outage or a computer being turned off with the power button.
If two machines on a network are editing the same return simultaneously, changes made to the tax return can be lost.

 

Resolution

1. Verify multiple users are not simultaneously modifying the same tax return file.
2. After verifying the return is only open on one computer, click Yes to close this message and open the return. simultaneously, changes made to the tax return can be lost.
