Error Message: Return contains errors which exceed the acceptable error level.
Symptoms
When printing a tax return, the following message appears:
’Return contains errors which exceed the acceptable error level, as specified in System Setup.
This return CANNOT be Printed.’
Cause
This will occur if the program is configured to prevent the transmission of tax returns that contain errors and/or warning messages, or if the tax return contains fatal errors.
Resolution
Configure the program to prevent printing only on fatal errors, or alternatively, manually print return components to bypass the errors and/or warnings.
Resolution 1: Configure Office Setup to prevent transmission only on fatal errors.
NOTE: This resolution will allow a return to be printed while still containing non-fatal errors and warnings.
- Log into the program as a user with Administrator rights.
- From the top menu, select Setup > Office Setup. The Registrations tab will open.
- In the Verification Settings section, in the Prevent Transmit box, select Fatal Errors.
- Click OK to save the change.
The tax return will now print without this verification when there are errors or warnings. If the tax return still shows the verification, there are fatal errors on the return that must be resolved.
Resolution 2: Bypass the Verification Settings by selecting return components to be printed.
- Open the return to be printed.
- From the top menu, select Print > Return Components.
- Check the boxes for the desired return components and click OK.
- The Print Selected Items window will open, allowing you to print the previously selected return components by clicking Print.
