Error Message: ’Tax Form Printing Unavailable’


In attempting to print a tax return, the following error message appears: 

’The laser printing package has not been installed in this version of the application. You will need to apply a printing update in order to activate this function.’ 



This behavior occurs if the laser printing package has not been installed. If this error message is received before the start of electronic filing, it is due to the laser printing package not being made available for customers to download and install. The laser printing package is made available once the program receives forms approval from the IRS. Forms approval is usually not available until January.


  1. Verify the product is released
  2. Transmit to the Central Site
  3. Click Software Updates on the "Work In Progress" screen
  4. Click Apply All
  5. Click Restart
